A FIREFIGHTER was assaulted while attempting to extinguish a fire at a property in Chadderton last night.
A crew from Chadderton were called to Bamford Street to reports of a fire in the living room shortly before 9pm.
When firefighters arrived, a male occupant refused to leave the address and reportedly hit a firefighter on his protective headgear with an unknown item.
The firefighter received treatment for minor injuries and police were called to the incident.
The fire was extinguished, however the cause is not known at this stage.
The occupant was eventually removed from the property and has been taken to hospital for assessment.
