Thieves flee after accident

A GROUP of thieves abandoned a van after being chased through Werneth.
Police received reports of a theft in Lincoln Street on Sunday night involving a red Ford transit van.
The incident, at around midnight, saw the offenders attempt to get away in the van but they ran off after crashing the vehicle.
Resident Adam Ahmed said: "A group of thieves were chased by a group of local lads.
"Luckily two men were caught in the act in Lincoln street. They were seen acting suspiciously.
"They drove off in a rush but crashed the van, ditched it and ran off.
"People like this need to be stopped.
"Residents are getting angry because the police are not doing much."
Greater Manchester Police attended the incident. They have been approached for a comment.
