THE head teacher of a primary school in Chadderton has issued a warning to parents after a young boy was knocked down outside the premises.
The boy was hit by a car on Thursday morning as he was crossing Holly Grove to start school at Bare Trees.
The head teacher of the school, Victoria Oldham, issued a letter to all parents and guardians, which said the safety of the children is paramount and that all steps must be taken to ensure children are being taken to school safely.
She said: "School is aware of traffic issues on Holly Grove and we are doing all we can to ensure the safety of the children.
Support
"But we are limited in what we can do, so we need the support of all parents and families in keeping the children safe."
A post on GMP Chadderton's Facebook page said the boy was not seriously injured, but was taken to hospital.
The post added: "We have a large number of vehicles which are parked or being driven outside our schools during the start and finishing times, which makes our already busy roads even more busy. Please take extra care outside schools.
"Our children are precious. And if you can leave the car at home, please do so."
