A SHOCKING video showing a dog being beaten up has gone viral - and led to the arrest of one man.
The footage, posted by an Oldham resident, was shared on Facebook nearly 100,000 times and prompted emotional comments from people as it showed a man assaulting his dog in a street in Oldham.
Within hours of the video being posted, two dogs - including the one that was assaulted - were taken off their owner.
One will be going into rescue and the other has been taken to the RSPCA as they will have to assess any injuries to build a case.
GMP confirmed they received a call about the assault on the dog on Monday morning.
Yesterday, a 35-year-old man presented himself at a police station and was arrested on suspicion of causing unnecessary suffering to an animal.
Chief Inspector John Haywood said: "The man in custody will be questioned and we will be working closely with our partners throughout this investigation."
