MAJOR roadworks were due to start in Manchester Street today.
Oldham Council will carry out the work at the junction with Tattersall Street.
One lane will be closed during off-peak hours.
Traffic cones have been laid out on the approach to the roundabout at Oldham Way.
It comes as the council also excavates the Manchester Road carriageway and lays a new reinforcement mains pipe at the junction with Windsor Road.
Work is also being undertaken at the junction with Frederick Street.
One lane is being shut off while improvements are made to the carriageway and footway as well as work to the signal installations.
