A NEW deputy leader was unanimously appointed by Oldham Council at a meeting in the Civic Centre yesterday.
Council leader Jean Stretton said: "I'm delighted to move councillor Abdul Jabbar as deputy leader of the council."
The only reshuffle within the Cabinet saw Councillor Sean Fielding hand over his responsibility as deputy of employment and skills to Councillor Paul Jacques.
Oldham Borough Liberal Democrat group unanimously appointed Councillor Howard Sykes as their leader and Councillor John McCann as deputy.
Councillor Sykes said: "Under my leadership, and with the support of my team, we will continue to speak up and work hard for the residents of this borough."
Councillor Sykes has also been added to the Oldham Property Partnership alongside Councillor Stretton.
