THE for sale sign has gone up on Greenfield Conservative Club after it called last orders in April.
The historic Victorian building on Chew Valley Road has a guide price of £495,000 with Manchester-based agents, Roger Hannah and Co.
Its demise was a blow to groups which used it like Greenfield Brass Band, Saddleworth Historical Society, Backstep Boogie dance group, the RNLI and Whit Friday Brass Band Committee and was blamed on dwindling bar sales and rising debts.
Membership at the club, which opened in 1894, topped 600 but was down to 200. War memorial boards will be offered to Saddleworth Museum.
