THE back-to-back 'Dukes Reunion' gigs featuring Mike Sweeney's Salford Jets band this weekend have been cancelled.
Uppermill-based Sweeney spoke enthusiastically to the Chronicle this week about his band's 40th anniversary shows, which were due to go ahead on Friday and Saturday nights at the Grand Palais in Swinton, but a decision was made on Wednesday lunchtime to postpone the performances.
A statement read: “Given this week’s tragic events in Manchester we have decided it would be inappropriate to go ahead with this weekend’s performances.
“They will be re-scheduled and new dates for this year will be announced shortly.
“In the meantime refunds can be obtained from your initial point of purchase."
