FIREFIGHTERS were called to a suspected arson attack in the basement of an empty Oldham Town Centre building yesterday evening.
Three fire engines attended the vacant and derelict Prudential Assurance Buildings on Union Street at 9.40pm to reports of smoke coming from the basement.
Crews discovered a small fire in the basement which was quickly extinguished with limited damage caused.
The fire is being treated as a deliberate ignition and it has been passed to the police for investigation.
