Oldham Market Traders Celebrate Love Your Local Market campaign in Oldham
SHOPPERS could win £50 worth of Tommyfield Market vouchers by sharing their stories about why they love Oldham's market traders.
Oldham Council is running a social media competition as part of Love Your Local Market, a national campaign celebrating Britain's markets.
Residents are being urged to send in their "trader tales" from markets across the borough; whether it is a story or excellent customer service, someone going the extra mile or picking up that perfect item with help from a trader.
To enter, residents have to do is submit their trader tale via a tweet or Facebook post to the markets' social media channels - Twitter, @OldhamMarkets or Facebook, Oldham Markets - using the hashtag #TraderTale.
Helen Lockwood, executive director of economy, skills and neighbourhoods, said: "Love your Local Market is a good way to celebrate the borough's markets and all that they offer to the local community.
"Our markets have lots of great bargains and produce on offer and by buying from stallholders you are supporting local traders and the economy."
The competition close at 5pm on Sunday, June 11 and the winner will be announced on social media channels at noon on Wednesday, June 14.
As part of the campaign, which is being celebrated in Oldham for the fifth year in a row, residents can also view videos of local traders telling their tales of market life.
Anyone interested in opening a stall at Oldham's markets is also urged to get in touch to find out about incentives for new traders, including the £5 Friday offer on Tommyfield's outdoor market.
