A DRIVER had a miraculous escape after walking out of a crash which saw his car roll several times and come to a stop in a ditch in Saddleworth.
Emergency services were called to reports of a one-vehicle crash on the A640 Huddersfield Road, Denshaw, shortly before 1am this morning.
When police and fire service attended, the car, a Peugeot 207, was vacant.
After using the vehicle's registration service to track down the owner, they discovered that he had managed to escape the crash and flag down a passing motorist to take him to hospital.
A fire service spokesperson said: "The driver had a lucky escape. It appears the car has rolled several times before stopping in a ditch. It's amazing he was able to get out of the car himself."The road is dark and barren so it was lucky he was able to get the attention of another motorist."
Police confirmed they had traced the vehicle's owner who had presented at hospital with minor injuries.
