YOUNG athletes enjoying this week's Alexandra Junior Parkrun had extra motivation as they were cheered on by Team GB Olympic gold medallist hockey player Nicola White.
Nicola joined the runners at the 2K run in Alexandra Park on Sunday and cheered on the 62 youngsters as they crossed the finishing line.
Jac Chapman (eight), who took first place, got the chance to meet Nicola and wear her gold medal with pride following his success.
The Alexandra Junior Parkrun sees dozens of children aged four to 14 meet each week to keep fit with a run in the park.
New runners are always welcome but must register online at www.parkrun.org/alexandra-junior.
