ARTISTIC pupils have created a symbol of solidarity following the terrorist attack at the Ariana Grande concert in Manchester.
Students in Years 5 to 9 at Hulme Grammar School have made 200 hexagonal, ceramic tiles imprinted with the pop singer's logo and worker bees, the emblem of Manchester's industrial heritage which has been become synonymous with unity after the bombing.
Others have messages of peace and they fit together to create a large honeycomb, continuing the bee theme but also representing how individual pupils are part of the larger school community.
The piece will be displayed at school.
Art teacher Jill McCarthy said: "The pupils responded to the project in a very positive and receptive way, showing a good understanding of the issues involved.
"I'm really proud of their involvement in the project and the beautiful tiles they have produced."
