THIEVES caused hundreds of pounds worth of damage to an Oldham Town Centre cafe - but only managed to steal £8 in cash during a break-in.
Nosh, on Yorkshire Street, was targeted by the criminals who used tools to remove a concrete brick at the rear of the building and break through a wall into the cafe in the early hours of Thursday morning.
But, despite causing over £500 worth of damage, the crooks only escaped with £8 in cash after attempting to stealing the emptied till.
Owner Corry Potter, who has been at the town centre location for seven and a half years, said: "Someone tried to break-in over the weekend but they weren't successful and couldn't get in.
"We think they have come back again and brought the right tools to get through the wall and into the back kitchen.
"They've caused a lot of damage and grabbed the till but luckily it only had the £8 float in it.
"Our alarm was triggered so we managed to get here quite quickly."
She added that the police have been informed and forensic evidence, including a sock left at the scene, has been taken away for examination.
Corry continued: "It is annoying that we will have to pay for the repairs and our back kitchen is out of action.
"But we have been able to continue trading, offering a basic menu."
