IT was animal magic when talented pupils from Waterhead Academy won Oldham's first language festival.
They impressed the judges when they performed a scene in French and Italian from the Disney favourite the Lion King.
Year eight pupils from Blue Coat and North Chadderton schools also took part in the Lingua-Fest organised by Oldham Modern Foreign Languages Network.
They had to perform a five-minute song, poem or sketch in a foreign language with North Chadderton choosing song from the famous French film The Choir and Bluecoat a French poem. The Waterhead students won cinema vouchers and a trophy.
The festival was held at North Chadderton and Jane Henderson, a modern foreign language teacher at the school, said: "The standard was very high and we are hoping that more Oldham schools will compete in what we hope becomes an annual event."
