CCTV image of the man suspected of an armed robbery
POLICE have released this CCTV image of a suspect from an armed robbery in Chadderton.
As previously reported in the Chronicle, a shop on Butler Green was robbed at gunpoint at around 10.40pm on Wednesday, August 9.
Officers attended and found that an offender had made his way into the store, where he threatened a man behind the counter with a handgun.
He then went to the till, where he forced this assistant to open the register and then made off with the contents in an unknown direction.
Detectives have now released a CCTV image of a man they wish to speak to in connection with their investigation.
Detective Constable Zahir Hussain, of GMP's Oldham Borough, said: "This man was simply doing his job when he was threatened at gunpoint.
"I cannot begin to imagine how scared he must have been when he was confronted by a masked gunman, who forcibly stole money from the till that he was protecting.
"I'm asking for anyone who recognises the man in the image, or who heard anything at the time, to please come forward and talk to us, as you could hold vital information."
Anyone with information should contact police on 101, quoting incident number 2259 of 09/08/17, or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
