A BLAST of colour will fill Alexandra Park as old and young unite to support Dr Kershaws' next fundraiser.

The Royton hospice launched Oldham's first Colour Blast fun run in 2015 which sees hundreds of runners clothe themselves in reds, blues, greens, yellows and oranges.

Coronation Street star Katie McGlynn, who plays Sinead Tinker on the ITV soap, has previously supported the event.

Fundraising team leader at Dr Kershaw's Angela Higham said: "We have again partnered with Revolution 96.2 radio for the fundraiser and are now focusing on driving sponsorship."

Participants run, or stroll, around the park while being blasted with non-toxic coloured powder.

Local celebrity Kwok Wong who runs Ree Ming fish and chip shop near the Royal Oldham Hospital has been a regular attendee with his dog year-on-year.

For 2017, he will again show his support for the hospice by turning out as an eight-man Chinese dragon.

Kwok said: "Every year I try to dress up as something different for the Colour Blast. This year, I will be using my 30ft-long dragon to make this event more colourful.

"My friend's dad is very poorly at Dr Kershaw's so this time, we are running this dragon for my friend's dad and to thank Dr Kershaw's for looking after him."

The 2017 Colour Blast takes place on Sunday, September 24 between 1 and 3pm.

Tickets cost £15 for adults (over 16s), £8 for children (0-16) or £42 for family tickets (two adults, two children).
