CHESNEY — Sam Aston — opens the shop but with a boxer rather than Schmeichel the Great Dane
“CORONATION Street” favourite Chesney Battersby-Brown has proved a bit of a star with the RSPCA.
Teenager Ches — Bacup actor Sam Aston — regularly turns out at RSPCA events in Greater Manchester, giving his services free of charge.
Saturday was no different when the young star, who usually appears on the Street with his beloved Great Dane, Schmeichel, opened the new RSPCA shop in New Street, Uppermill.
Manager Wendy Whiston said: “It takes £500,000 a year to run the animal centre in Oldham. And that is where the charity shops come in, raising money to keep it going.
“Sam is a big help to us. He comes along to the shop openings and talks to everyone.”
