A 25-YEAR-OLD man was arrested after a cannabis farm was discovered in Ladysmith Street, Hollins, yesterday morning.
Fifteen mature plants were found in a growing tent and a nursery containing another 16 plants was discovered along with cultivation equipment.
The man was arrested on suspicion of cultivating cannabis and is in police custody.
The raid was part of Operation Dragonfly which was set up last year to crackdown on cannabis farms across the region and to disrupt the supply of cannabis.
Police have successfully uncovered six other cannabis factories in Oldham since January.
Det Con Dave Millwood said: “The plants inside this house were a lot bigger than what we usually find.
“The set-up of cannabis farms, no matter how big or small, is extremely dangerous, which is why it is so important that people report any suspicions they may have. Today’s arrest and discovery was the result of information from the public who are just as determined as we are to stop houses being used in this way.
“Greater Manchester Police is committed to disrupting the supply of cannabis and that means closing down all farms.
“We would ask the community to continue to help us by looking out for anyone suspicious visiting a property on a regular basis at strange times.
“They should look out for large amounts of electrical wiring, light fittings, chemicals or compost being delivered.”
