Date published: 04 July 2008
ROYTON and Shaw’s new police sergeant has vowed to use pedal power to fight crime.
Sgt Helen Osmond, who has served in Greater Manchester Police for almost nine years, is a keen mountain-biker.
And she is no stranger to the streets of Royton and Shaw as she worked as a response officer for 18 months based at Royton police station.
Sgt Osmond said: “I feel the key to good neighbourhood policing is being out there on the streets, getting to know the area and the people.
“I’m hoping to get out there on my bike and to encourage other staff in the team to do the same.
“There is already a great team working in Royton and Shaw, and I’m hoping to build on the good work that they have done.
“I plan to forge new relationships with the community and other agencies and to work with them to bring down crime.”
