It’s fun all the way as carnival gears up

FUN is on the cards as the second Hollinwood Carnival takes to the streets.
The procession starts at 11am from St Margaret’s Church, Chapel Road, and leads to Limeside Park where the Mayor of Oldham, Councillor Shoab Akhtar, will open the event.
Limeside Park will have a range of activities, including fairground rides, international food, and craft stalls.
Shanine Meadowcroft, from Contour Homes, said: “The carnival is quickly becoming a major event in Hollinwood’s calendar and we are expecting an even bigger turn out after last year’s success.”
In the run-up to the event, Contour Homes organised a costume-making session for children from The Avenues and Hollins Estate who wanted to add their own creative touch to the carnival.
The children designed a dragon which will be paraded around the streets on Sunday.
