A BUSINESSMAN has slammed the Royal Mail for failing to deliver his company’s letters properly.

Mike Bond (65), director of Sports Framing, says postmen are leaving letters in the main entrance to Booth House, Featherstall Road South, rather than taking them to the main office.

Mr Bond, whose company is based in Booth House along with around 30 others, claims a £2,500 company cheque was stolen because of the practice.

He said: “The postman used to deliver to every unit but when that stopped, they used to leave mail at the main office for the caretaker to deliver.

“But they can’t be bothered doing that now and are throwing mail inside the front door.

“The doors are always open and there must be more than 500 people walking in and out.

“About two months ago, my bank contacted me to say a woman had tried to cash a company cheque for £2,500.

“I’ve complained five or six times to Royal Mail but nothing has happened. They are just wasting my time.”

Mr Bond said last week he received mail which had been posted two weeks before.

He said: “We get about 300 letters a day. Businesses in Booth House rely on the mail but it’s just left all over the floor.

“It just gets worse and worse. They used to come at 7.30am, but now its the afternoon.

“People pay good money to have mail delivered, not thrown on the floor.”

A Royal Mail spokesman said: “We’re sorry that Mr Bond is unhappy with the service he has received.

“We received his complaint on May 8 regarding mail for Booth House being left at the front entrance.

“A customer adviser informed Mr Bond that the Oldham delivery office would ensure that mail was delivered to reception in future and a special instruction to this effect was put on the postman’s sorting frame.

“We are not aware of any further complaints from Mr Bond since May 8 but the delivery office manager will speak to the postman to remind him of the correct procedure.”
