Help shape the future of care

OLDHAMERS are being urged to help shape the future of health services at three new centres in the borough.
Oldham Primary Care Trust (PCT) will be running a series of road shows over the coming weeks to ask people about what additional services could be offered.
The new centres, GP surgeries in Hollinwood and Coldhurst — and a new health centre built in or near the town centre, are additional services and are not replacing other health centres. The facilities bring the total investment to well over £100 million.
The town-centre facility is in addition to the 10-storey health centre currently under development on the civic centre car park that will house GPs, dentists and minor surgery and replaces the Marjorie Lees and Cannon Street health centres.
Oldham PCT chief executive Gail Richards said: “These developments are incredibly exciting. As well as increasing access to community-based services, they will ease the pressure on some of our existing services.
“They will also have a strong focus on well-being — supporting people to be fit and well.”
And they will form part of a growing network of local community-based health services which can meet the needs of Oldham’s communities now and well into the future.
Mrs Richards added: “It’s fantastic news for Oldham that this extra funding will allow us to move forward with our plans to strengthen services.”
