School remembers Mrs Jones

PUPILS at SS Aidan and Oswald Primary School, Royton, held a special memorial day to celebrate the life of a popular former teacher who died in May.
Pupils, keen to honour Pat Jones, raised £1,000 for Dr Kershaw’s Hospice — the family’s chosen charity. The day started with a memorial mass and celebration, followed by a balloon race with each pupil writing a prayer, memory or message on the balloon label.
In the evening, the children dedicated their performance of “Oliver” to their former teacher, while they also showcased their creative flair in a competition to design a memorial garden.
Head teacher Damian Harrison said: “We all miss her greatly.”
