A COLOURFUL tribute has been made to outstanding Hathershaw School pupil Roshni Panchani who died in January.
The 17-year-old was a talented scientist, artist, sportswoman and all-rounder who had planned to team up with friend Chris Jakeway to make a welcome to science sign for the department.
So former pupils Chris and Abass Iqbal decided to create the sign in her memory and it will take pride of place along with a plaque.
It was unveiled by the pair along with Roshni’s 14-year-old sister, Chandni, who is a pupil at Hathershaw.
Roshni, who had started her A-levels at Oldham Sixth-Form College, died after suddenly falling ill.
Head of science Jaime Goodwin said: “She was an absolute star.
“As well as being very interested in science, Roshni was vivacious and had a good sense of humour.
“In short, she was a pupil who stood out.”
