CARNIVAL fever hits Failsworth this weekend as funfairs, floats and falconry are set to entertain the crowds.
And organisers are promising an event that is bigger and better than last year’s.
The parade will leave Lord Lane at 1pm tomorrow and will follow a route along Ashton Road West to Roman Road, down Westminster Road and then rejoining Ashton Road East.
It will then head along Brierley Avenue, down Hibbert Crescent and Alder Road and back to Lord Lane playing fields at 3pm.
On the field tomorrow, dance troupes will be completing for trophies, and groups will be entertaining the crowds, and the Failsworth Carnival royalty will be crowned at 4pm.
A host of stalls and activities will be available throughout the day along with a funfair for all the family.
On Sunday, there will be falconry and owl displays at various times and sporting activities including penalty shoot-out for football fans.
The finals of the Failsworth Stars in Your Eyes competition will be taking place throughout the afternoon.
A bonny baby competition has been organised, the winners of the Failsworth in Bloom competition will be announced and the Prize draw will take place.
Carnival committee member Enid Bell said: “There will be more entrants in the parade this year and the parade should be colourful and lively. It should be a fun packed weekend.”
