OLDHAM Countryside Service is offering teenagers a truly different holiday experience.

Run over four Thursdays in July and August, the team is offering young daredevils a chance to try Canadian canoeing, kayaking, rock climbing, mountain biking, tree climbing and archery.

The sessions, which will be held at Brownhill Countryside Centre, Strinesdale, Daisy Nook Country Park and Tandle Hill Country Park will be supervised by staff from the Castleshaw outdoor education centre.

Trained, experienced staff will also provide appropriate equipment and instruction.

This is a free opportunity for youngsters to try out something different.

Countryside officer Angela Tarkenter, who has organised the activities, said: “This is a great opportunity for young people from across the borough to come and have a go at some exciting adventure activities.

“Not only will the young people have the opportunity to experience some activities they wouldn’t normally experience, but they will also visit sites around the borough to witness some of the truly stunning countryside that Oldham has to offer. “I urge all parents of interested children to contact us as soon as possible as spaces are limited.”
