THOUSANDS of people across Greater Manchester will be given a helping hand to get back into work, thanks to national employment charity, the Shaw Trust.
It will be targeting unemployed people across the region over the next three years with a package of training and specialist help, thanks to funding from the European Social Fund and the Department for Work and Pensions.
A team of experienced staff across Greater Manchester will work within the community to support a wide group of people, including those with health conditions, lone parents, people from ethnic minorities and the over-50s.
“We believe everyone has the right to work and this will be a fantastic way to get extra support to those who need it.” said Shaw Trust district manager Anne Seddon.
“This is a major investment by Europe in the future of disadvantaged people in Manchester and promises to be an exciting time for the community,” she added.
The trust is the largest voluntary-sector provider of employment for disabled people in the UK and also offers training and work opportunities for people who might be disadvantaged in the labour market due to ill health or other social circumstances.
Under the New Deal for Disabled People, the trust has already supported 38,000 people into work and will be helping over 40,500 into jobs with a Pathways programme over the next three years.
A host of agencies, including Groundwork and Work Solutions, will help the trust take the programme across Greater Manchester over the next three years.
The Shaw Trust can be contacted on 0808-180 2001.
