Two hurt in vicious assaults

TWO men suffered serious head injuries after being brutally assaulted in two separate attacks in Oldham town centre early on Sunday morning.
In the first attack, a 26-year-old man was punched to the ground near to Cuba Cuba, in Yorkshire Street, shortly after midnight.
He was taken to hospital with fractures to his head, jaw and face and remains in a stable condition. His attacker is described as in his 20 or 30s, over 6ft tall and of stocky build.
Just over two hours later, an 18-year-old was man was hit with a bottle in Baillies Wine Bar, also in Yorkshire Street.
He was taken to hospital with a fractured skull and remains in a stable condition.
Det Sgt Liz Hopkinson, of Oldham CID, said: “Two men have received extremely nasty injuries as a result of two assaults in the town centre.
“I would like to reassure residents we are following a number of strong lines of inquiry to identify those responsible, so they can be held accountable for their totally unacceptable actions.
