Villagers get say on road tolls

Saddleworth villagers are being urged to attend a special additional road show on proposed public transport investments and congestion charge.
The show, to be staged at Saddleworth Museum on August 6, has been organised by Saddleworth Parish Council after a request from Councillor Richard Knowles, a member of the Greater Manchester Passenger Transport Authority.
Officers from GMPTE will be present to answer questions and there will be a displays at the event.
Councillor Royce Franklin, chairman of the Parish Council’s recently-formed transport and traffic subcommittee, said: “It is generally recognised there is little in the deal for Saddleworth.
“However, it is hoped local residents will take advantage of this opportunity of visiting the road show and seeing special displays.
Councillor Knowles said: “It is important residents rare fully informed.
The road show will take place between 10am and 7.30pm at Saddleworth Museum, High Street, Uppermill.
