EXCLUSIVE news reports are being broadcast online by a special team of gifted and talented summer school students from Oldham schools.
Sixty pupils produce daily news reports about their activities at the Gifted and Talented Summer School, which is taking place at the City Learning Centre.
The summer school gives high achievers a challenge over the summer break.
Their news can be watched, listened to and read from 4pm each day on the City Learning Centre website (www.clc-oldham .org.uk), which welcomes comments and feedback.
Each day pupils work in four groups and gain experience in broadcasting, radio and print journalism. They make all editorial decisions, interview people, conduct research and produce reports that cover news stories from different angles for TV, radio and web-based media.
The pupils follow BBC standard guidelines to create a news centre of their own, backed by technical training from staff at the learning centre.
Schools taking part include Breeze Hill, Counthill, Crompton House, Radclyffe and Saddleworth Secondary Schools, and Broadfield, Burnley Brow, Chadderton Hall, Corpus Christi, Littlemoor, Richmond, St Anne’s, Stoneleigh and Whitegate End Primary Schools.
