TT Express general manager Peter Shepherd, left, and managing director, David Taylor, gear up for the challenging bike ride
A HAULAGE company has taken up a 2,200- mile challenge to raise funds for Unicef.
TT Express (Oldham) Ltd is organising the Makro Challenge 2008, a charity motorbike ride, when four motorcyclists will ride around Britain visiting as many Makro cash and carry stores as possible in 60 hours.
The challenge starts at Makro, Aberdeen, at 7am on Wednesday and finishes at Makro Manchester.
Pete Shepherd, general manager at T T Express, said: “I wanted to do something that involved riding my bike and raising money for a good cause.
“The Unicef Born Free from HIV campaign really impressed me. The work it does is vital and ultimately saves thousands of children from an uncertain future.
“The idea of riding from Makro to Makro was an easy one as we deliver to them as a company anyway, and once I put the idea forward everyone I spoke to thought it was an excellent idea.”
Also taking part are managing director David Taylor, driver Tony Smith, and electrician Alan Hall.
