Workman attacked by gang
Date published: 28 July 2008
YOUTHS set fire to the kitchen of a ground-floor flat after smashing the window with stones.
Firefighters from Hollins were called to Cambridge Street in Werneth at 10.45pm yesterday.
The gang had thrown bricks through the kitchen window and when an employee from First Choice Homes arrived to fix the window they pelted his van with stones so he called the police.
They then started a fire in the kitchen but the fire crew arrived quickly and managed to extinguish the flames before much damage was caused.
The owner of the property was out at the time of the incident and police are now investigating.
