Family’s tribute to music-row father

A 27-YEAR-OLD man has been charged with manslaughter following the death of Michael Moran on Saturday.
Mr Moran (63), of Lancing Walk, Chadderton, died after receiving a blow to the head when he asked a neighbour to turn down his music just before midnight.
James Barfoot (27), also of Lancing Walk, has been charged with manslaughter and was due to appear at Oldham Magistrates’ Court today.

Mr Moran’s wife and son, Joan and Steven Moran, said: “Mike was a devoted husband and father who always worked hard to support his family. He had many friends who will miss him greatly and feel the loss.
“When he retired due to health problems all he wanted was to pursue his love of classical music, reading, and watching wildlife.”
Mr Moran was taken to the Royal Oldham Hospital where he died.
Initial post-mortem results show he died as a result of a blow to the head. Further tests are still to be carried out.
