Country music feast

Local country music enthusiasts are gearing up for a major event in Mossley in mid-October.
The “celebration of British Country Music” will be staged between 1.30 to 11.30pm at the George Lawton Hall, on October 18.
It will feature four of the best country bands from the north.
Trevor Thwaites, of Chew Valley Country Music Club at Greenfield, said: “The idea for the event came from various discussions during 2007, to try to increase the general awareness and acceptability of modern British country music.
“The bands have been chosen to provide a good variation of modern country music with an emphasis on self-penned music and the lesser performed material, which should appeal to a wide-range of musical tastes.”
