OLDHAM residents are being urged to take a look around the new Cockcroft Children’s Centre, Shaw, tomorrow.

The Children’s Centre team, and Oldham Council’s Early Years and Childcare Service, are urging all of the local community, parents, children and representatives to visit between 10am and 2pm and share their opinions about how they would like to see the new centre develop.

Visitors will be asked for their ideas and input as to how the building’s rooms will be used, as well as finding out about the services that will be available in the new centre.

There will also be the opportunity to meet partner groups and find out more information about services such as early education and childcare, child and family health, as well as employment support and training opportunities.

Maria Greenwood, head of the Early Years and Childcare Service, said: “Children’s centres are an exciting new way of delivering a wide range of services to the community.

“We hope that this consultation will allow those who would like to use Cockcroft Children’s Centre, the opportunity to share their views and ideas and understand that this new centre is a community resource for all.”

Cabinet Member for Children, Young People and Families councillor Kay Knox said: “The views of local parents, carers, childcare providers, employers and other interested groups are very important to us.

“The feedback we get will help to develop the centre into one that reflects the needs of the community.”
