C-charge roadshow gets Uppermill date

SADDLEWORTH residents will have the opportunity to air their views on the proposed congestion charge on Wednesday, August 6.

Parish councillors in Saddleworth have already announced that a roadshow will be taking place at the museum, in Uppermill, between 10am and 7.30pm.

But Greater Manchester Passenger Transport has announced that the public will be able to ask questions and air their views.

A spokesman for the Transport Innovation Fund, which has been set up to promote the controversial congestion charge, commented: “Informing as many people as possible about the TIF package through an exhibition gives us an opportunity to start a dialogue with residents.

“We hope that as many people as possible will visit us and give us the opportunity to answer their questions.”

The exhibition will visit up to 66 venues across Greater Manchester over 14 weeks.

It is paving the way for plans to introduce a weekday peak time congestion charge in 2013 to help to fund a £3 billion investment in public transport.
