THE bus station will be shut for the next two Sundays
THE West Street side of Oldham bus station will be closed for the next two Sundays.
Following major refurbishment after a fire damaged the station’s roof, some additional minor work is needed.
Bus services will run from the Cheapside station during the closures and information will be posted in the area to help passengers find their bus stand.
Michael Renshaw, GMPTE’s interim service delivery director, said: “The West Street station has almost been restored to its condition prior to the fire but just needs a little more work.
“For safety reasons we’ve decided to close the station while we complete these repairs but we’ll be doing the work on Sundays when it is at its quietest.”
The £2.2m station, which opened in 2006, was closed for seven weeks earlier this year for repairs to the roof after a fire caused serious damage.
During the closure it also underwent a full industrial clean and modifications were made to its sliding doors.
Bus users can check services by calling Traveline on 0871-200 22 33.
Lines are open from 7am to 8pm Monday to Friday and 8am to 8pm at weekends. Calls cost 10p a minute from landlines. Textphone users should ring 0870 241 2216.
