Antique pens stolen
Date published: 31 July 2008
A COPPICE man had a collection of valuable fountain pens worth hundreds of pounds stolen during a burglary at his home.
It happened some time between 7.30am on July 24 and 3.15pm on July 29, when raiders broke into a house on Mirfield Avenue.
They stole a collection of pens and pencils, at least one of which was a valuable Perry gold telescopic pencil which was more than 100 years old.
Sgt Martyn Schofield, from the Volume Crime Team at Oldham police station, said: “This man has been collecting pens for many years and his collection is now worth several hundred pounds.
“The victim has understandably been left upset that items of such sentimental value, that he has spent many years collecting, have been stolen by mindless thieves.
“I would appeal to anyone who may know who is responsible, or who may have been offered some pens in suspicious circumstances, to come forward.”
Anyone with any information is asked to call the Volume Crime Team in Oldham on 0161-856 9577.
