SPECTACULAR . . . Dionne Knapman
AN Oldham woman is in the frame to win a top modelling contract after being selected from hundreds of hopefuls to compete in the Spectacle Wearer of the Year semi-finals.
Dionne Knapman, of Patterdale Close, will join 10 others from the North-West in the competition in Liverpool on August 14.
The 23-year-old, who works for security firm ADT in Manchester said: “I’m really excited at being selected as a semi-finalist and I’m looking forward to the chance to show off my specs in front of the judges in a couple of week’s time.
“It’s always been my ambition to be a professional model and I think this competition is really important as it encourages people to feel good in their specs whilst looking stylish and funky.
“I really want to bring something fresh and different to the competition and would love to be able to represent my home town in the grand final.”
If successful, Dionne will be strutting down the catwalk at the glitzy, celebrity-studded grand final in London on Tuesday, October 21.
Contestants will be judged by a panel of industry experts and Specsavers style ambassador and Channel 4 presenter, Gok Wan.
This year’s grand final winner will receive a 12 month modelling contract with top London agency MOT models and the chance to appear in a Specsavers advertising campaign. The sexy specs wearer will also win a two week all-inclusive holiday for two in St Lucia or Barbados, hair and beauty products and eyecare.
By entering this year’s Spectacle Wearer of the Year competition, Dionne has also helped to raise money for charity.
Specsavers is donating £1 for every eligible entry it has received in this year’s competition to anti-bullying charity Kidscape.
