A YOUNG boy who appealed for help in tracking down two Oldhamers he met on holiday is looking forward to a reunion with his holiday pals — thanks to a story in the Chronicle.
Dominic Wood (14), who hails from Barrowford, near Nelson, has trouble making friends, because he has a form of autism, known as asperger syndrome, which makes it difficult for some sufferers to socialise.
But all that changed when he met up with young Oldham brothers Kyle and Brad Atkins, while enjoying a break in the Sargerme region of Turkey. The trio hit it off immediately and enjoyed a fun-packed week together, but Dominic found himself missing his friends when he got back to the UK and contacted the Chronicle to see if he could locate them.
Luckily for Dominic, the Atkins family read his appeal and the youngsters are all set for a reunion.
Dominic’s mum, Margaret Wood, said: “The Atkins family got in touch us straight away after reading the story and Dominic is absolutely thrilled.
“The boys’ mum, Faye, said she was really touched by what she read.
“We’ve now arranged for them to come and stay with us this weekend and Dominic absolutely can’t wait. We’re so grateful to the Chronicle.
“It just goes to show the power of the Press!”
