22 schools waiting for pupils’ results

LATEST figures show that more than a fifth of Oldham’s 103 schools are still waiting for the pupils’ SATS results.
However, the government is going ahead with plans to publish the national results of the key stage 2 tests taken by 11-year-olds tomorrow.
This will be followed by the results for 14-year-olds at key stage 3 a week later on August 12.
Ministers have launched an inqury after delays marking the 9.5 million papers sat by 1.2 million pupils in England.
Schools had been due to receive their results before the end of term and there are also concerns about the accuracy of marking, which is being overseen by ETS Europe, a US-owned company.
As of July 25, 99 per cent of KS2 results were available to schools and 91 per cent of results overall at KS3 (84 per in English, 95 per cent in maths and science).
However, schools secretary Ed Balls said his statisticians felt there was sufficient data to publish provisional national results.
He added that the government was monitoring the situation daily to ensure that everything possible was being done to ensure the remaining results get to schools.
The independent watchdog, Ofqual, has also said there is no evidence of widespread problems with the quality of the marks.
The 22 Oldham schools which still had incomplete SATS results on Friday were primary: Coppice, Hey with Zion, Knowsley Junior, Lyndhurst, Propps Hall, Roundthorn, Royton Hall Stoneleigh and Thorp.
Secondary: Counthill, Crompton House, Failsworth, Hathershaw, Kaskenmoor, North Chadderton, Oldham Pupil Referral Unit. Our Lady’s, Radclyffe, Royton and Crompton, Saddleworth, South Chadderton and St Augustine.
