Motorcyclist dies in collision

A 54-YEAR-OLD motorcyclists has died after the motorcycle he was driving was in collision with a VW Polo at the junction of Stamford Street and Rassbottom Street, Stalybridge just before midnight on Friday.
About 50 minutes earlier, officers on patrol in Whittle Street, Denton, saw the motorbike and signalled for it to stop.
The rider ignored the instruction and a pursuit began supported by the force helicopter.
On arrival at the scene, officers found the 54-year-old seriously injured. He was taken to Tameside General Hospital with a suspected broken pelvis but his condition worsened and he died on Saturday morning.
The 18-year-old driver of the Polo suffered minor whiplash injuries.
Greater Manchester Police’s professional standards department has been made aware of the incident and is investigating.
The matter has also been referred to the Independent Police Complaints Commission.
