Holiday let would pose danger
A scheme to convert a barn in Church Road, Uppermill, into a holiday let was recommended for refusal.
Councillor John Hudson said the scheme for Tachins Barn had been refused many times before. There was a strong danger of the holiday let being converted into permanent residential accommodation, he said.
Councillor David Atherton said he thought the application for a holiday let was a tactic to get another house on site.
Tesco criticised
Plans by Tesco to drop a scheme for an industrial unit at Knoll Mill, Greenfield, from its controversial supermarket development project, were criticised last night.
Councillor Brian Lord said they “shouldn’t roll over for Tesco”, and have this aspect of the scheme withdrawn. Councillor David Atherton said Tesco were trying to bulldoze the change through. The committee recommended refusal.
Housing issue
Developer Wiggett might not be able to to sell nearly 100 homes which they intended to build on the Knoll Mill, Greenfield, site, according to Councillor Brian Lord.
Principal planning officer Adele Hayes said the scheme for 45 houses and 54 apartments had already been approved. The application was concerned with details on the site, she said.
The committee recommended approval for landscaping and other work on site.
Revised scheme
Changes to part of the redevelopment of Knoll Mill, Greenfield, were an improvement on the original scheme.
Councillor John Hudson said Wiggett Homes were applying to site retail facilities, a restaurant and offices in one building — rather than have all three facilities and flats on the top. The committee recommended approval of the revised scheme.
