Walk is a tribute to tragic Cooksey

A GROUP of Latics fans will put their best foot forward next week to raise money for the Ernie Cooksey Appeal.
Ernie, a former Oldham Athletic player, died from skin cancer last month aged only 28.
And some of his supporters have rallied to make the 36-mile walk from Boundary Park to Leeds United for the August 16 match between the two clubs.
One of the organisers, Wayne Wilson, said he was expecting around 30 people to turn up for the trek, which leaves the White Hart, Oldham Road, Royton, on Friday, August 15, at 6.30pm.
The fund-raisers will make their way past Boundary Park and head out of Oldham along St Mary’s Way, Shaw Road and Huddersfield Road towards their destination in time for the 3pm kick-off.
