Young hot-shot has 2012 Olympics goal

Date published: 08 August 2008

AS the Olympic Games kicked-off in Beijing today, one outstanding sporting starlet has his sights firmly set on 2012 — but only if he can find a trainer.

Mohammed Noor (14), from Rochdale Road, Coldhurst, set seven-a-side football alight last season, bagging an incredible 118 goals in 27 games on Kaskenmoor’s synthetic pitches.

That amazing feat earned him the Golden Boot award.

The Grange School pupil also turns out in the Asian Sunday League.

His fantastic football skills have even seen him appear in the under-21s team — and pick up the Player of the Year award.

And, despite being an Arsenal fan, he is hoping for a trial with Latics.

As well as a first love of football, Mohammed has been described as a natural sprinter by his PE teacher after finishing third in the borough’s under-16s 100 metres competition.

And he is also a dab hand as a long-distance runner.

Mohammed said: “I have been thinking about the next Olympics in London and my teachers are encouraging me to go for them but I just need to get the right training. I’d love a career as a professional sportsman but if I had to choose a preferred sport, it would have to be football.”

Proud dad Ajmon Ali (41) said: “Mohammed’s PE teacher called me about his running and urged me to get him some professional training. He said Mohammed was so fast without even having to try, but I don’t know who to go to.I need to know the best advice and where to go.”
