TO most people scrap vehicles are simply that, but to Broadbent Autos and ancillary company PL Vehicle Services they are ammunition for “Scrapyard Challenge”.
And some of the team who work for the two Oldham companies are set to become television stars in the process.
One of the team applied for the companies to star in the popular programme, which is screened on Channel Four on Sundays at 4.45pm.
All manner of zany stunts are catered for and the two firms are in an event to be screened in October when they will play golf with a basketball and an adapted scrap vehicle.
Five other scrapyard specialists from around the country will be involved and the competition will take place in Scotland.
Steve Wilkes, team captain and manager at Broadbent Autos, in Broadbent Road, Oldham, said: “One of the members applied to the show and we just went from there.
“The film crew have already been down here doing some preliminary work and we think the challenge should be a lot of fun.”
