HAND OVER: (l-r) Phillida Shipp of Delph Community Association, Cllr John McCann, Cllr Jackie Stanton, Cllr Ken Hulme and Gillian Clark, both of Delph Community Association.
A CHEQUE for £750 compensation was handed over to Delph Community Association over the closure of Delph Library.
Following a recent ruling by the Local Government Ombudsman, the council handed over the discretionary payments for maladministration and injustice over the closure of Delph Library.
The decision to make the payment was taken by the council’s Cabinet meeting on July 28 following a review of recent case law.
Deputy Council Leader Jackie Stanton said: “This is one of those situations where we have to hold up our hands and concede that we did not get things right the first time around.”
