Metrolink fare dodgers are being targeted in new campaign.
Greater Manchester Passenger Transport Executive (GMPTE), which owns the Metrolink network, is working with the tram operator, Stagecoach, to crackdown on people who avoid buying tickets.
Inspectors are targeting stops across the network, and posters are being put up to warn people they face a charge of up to £80 if they travel without a ticket.
GMPTE’s Metrolink director, Philip Purdy, said: “This campaign will target those people who think they can get away with using the trams for free.
“The money we make from fares helps to cover the cost of operating the trams.”
