Lucky Erin born on 8/8/8

ALL THE EIGHTS . . .Lucky baby Erin with mum Danielle Ashworth and dad Scott Walsh
FROM Beijing to Britain, people have been clamouring to cash in on all the eights — one of the luckiest days ever.
But baby Erin Walsh made her own luck when she came into the world on the 8/8/08, just three minutes short of 8.08pm.
“I just couldn’t hang on any longer,” laughed her 24-year-old mother, Danielle Ainsworth.
The baby was originally predicted to make her entrance into the world on August 15, after midwives changed the date from August 8 following a scan.
But baby Erin stuck to the lucky birthdate, and arrived on the maternity unit at the Royal Oldham Hospital last Friday to the cheers of her father, Scott Walsh, and Danielle’s sister, Gemma Ainsworth.
The family are now back at home in Royton, and Danielle said: “ I’m not superstitious, but everyone else keeps telling me she’s a special baby and I’m really pleased.
“I would just like to thank the staff on the delivery unit for delivering Erin safely.”
The number eight is linked to good fortune in many cultures, particularly in China, and it was no coincidence that the Chinese chose to start the Olympics in Beijing on the eighth day of the eight month at exactly eight minutes past eight in the evening.
The date and time were picked to bring luck to their athletes.
In Britain, the day saw couples queuing up to get married, with one couple from Liverpool even setting an 8am time for the ceremony, and celebrating with an eight-sided wedding cake.
Erin was one of seven babies born at the Royal Oldham Hospital on August 8.
